Unlike weddings, pregnancies do not have a season. So when you’re 34 weeks along in January and really want maternity photos we take to the fields! The tall golden grass is lush and green in the summer but fit the rustic, winter feel we were going for. The sun was still bright as it hung low in the southern sky casting the most radiant glow. Can’t you feel the warmth of the light wrapping them up?!
These love birds, Matt and Melissa, are such joyful, loving humans. As all expecting parents are, they were excited and anxious to meet their daughter. They were also really excited for the maternity photos. Excited because they understood that these were their last few weeks as just a couple, a family of two. They are intentional with one another and they were intentional with their portraits. It was important to them to document it all. From Melissa’s sweet little bump, to their daughter’s birth. We did all and I am thrilled to share their story with you.
As two creative people themselves, they were up for anything to get the perfect image. Melissa is a stylist at I Am Salon and Day Spa so if you were wondering where she got those beautiful curls, well, she did it all herself folks! Sure, maybe that’s something you can do but for some of us, specifically myself, it’s a struggle. 🙂
Matt is a web designer at Sage Island so he knows a thing or two about style and composition. As creative as they are they also trusted me whole heartedly through out the process. From location, to attire, to walking and sitting in fields of tall grasses. Thank you for trusting me guys!
As always I have to give credit where credit is due. The kind, creative, and quirky folks at Richard Photo Lab help keep me and my film scans consistent and beautiful. So many emoji hearts to you all!
