You may remember Sarah and Trent’s newborn session, Our Tiny Miracle. Yes, I did post their newborn session before their maternity session. What can I say? I’m not the best at blogging on a regular basis, LOL. But I had to share the gorgeous images from the beginning of this new and beautiful chapter for their family. Both Sarah and the sun, in all of their beauty were glowing, warm and bright on that crisp, winter afternoon. It was perfection.
Sarah has great personal style but even so it’s nice to have someone affirm your wardrobe decisions. She would send me photos of dresses and accessories and I would let her know what would photograph well. It’s always fun styling clients! In fact, it’s one of my favorite parts about what I do. If you’re paying for professional portraits then it makes sense to take the time to prepare. Purchase a new outfit or rent one you love. Go get your hair and makeup professionally done. Take some time to pamper yourself and get a mani-pedi! Chances are great that I’m going to be photographing your hands with that beautiful baby bump. While I already know that you are gorgeous as is, it always puts an extra pep in that step of yours to pamper yourself. 🙂
I love a good double exposure. And I’m guilty of not doing enough of them. With Sarah and Trent however, I shot a few because the light that day was pure magic. I love the composition of these fills the space of her beautiful expectant belly with wild flowers and golden grass. It’s a portrait of Mother Nature enveloping this nurturing mother.
At the end of our time together we hopped over to Battleship Park to get a few shots of the downtown Wilmington skyline at sunset. I just love the soft light on the brick buildings with the Cape Fear River in front. To our delight there was a small picnic table where I was able to get a few shots of Sarah and Trent together in a different manner. Let me just say that these two are effortless when it comes to affection. They do exactly what I want them to do without me telling them. Their love for each other and the way they express it is so natural, so genuine. Quite simply, I absolutely love their love.
These gorgeous film scans are courtesy of Richard Photo Lab. The guys and gals at RPL are incredibly talented but also incredibly kind, thoughtful, and always helpful. If you are thinking about shooting film, first, DO IT! And second, send it to Richard! You won’t be disappointed.
Thank you friends for always loving and supporting me and my work. There are new things in the works for 2019 and I am excited to start rolling them out!
