I find the drive to Greenville, North Carolina to be very peaceful. I love back roads, small towns, and old gas stations so I’m always excited when Heather calls me to set up her family’s photo sessions. I’ve been photographing the Worthington’s since their daughter was born almost two years ago. Gah, where does the time go?!
Not only was Charlie going to be 18 months but they had just moved into their new home and wanted to do family photos here. Have I mentioned before that I LOVE at-home family sessions? Right. Of course I have. Because they are so relaxed, intimate, and fun. Charlie showed me all of her toys, read her favorite books with her mama, and rocked away on the hand-made rocking horse that her grandfather made her. That’s right, Heather’s father made these sweet little rocking horses just for Charlie.
Like most children, if there are stairs nearby Charlie will want to go up and down them over and over again. So with mama close by we just let her do her thing. And she was SO happy. This is what toddlers do at this age. Being able to capture this stage safely and allow her to be herself made space for the perfect portraits of a curious 18 month old.
