I can admit that I still get nervous before every session. The desire to create a unique and genuine experience for each client is great and my perfection level is high. So you could imagine that when another photographer asked me to photograph her family I was both giddy and anxious. Cokey Greenman is a family photographer in Kentucky who captures the sweetest and most authentic moments with her clients and her family. Also, she’s just a really awesome human with a really awesome family.
So the thing about perfection is that a. there’s really no such thing because b. perfection is all about one’s perspective. To many photographers, the perfect day for a portrait session is an overcast one. For me, however, the perfect day is bright and sunny. In regards, to a family vacation, such as this one that the Greenman family was on, the perfect weather would also be bright and sunny. However, this was one of the two incredibly wet weeks we had over the summer. But it didn’t phase them one teeny tiny bit.
I spent some time before the session looking for a super amazing location that had even the smallest bit of cover from the rain. Did I find it? Nope. But these guys were ready, willing, and joyful about running around the beach and boulders together even in the rain. And then it stopped. It did not rain for the rest of the time we were out there. Hallelujah!
Thinking back on the time spent with this family I realize that it wouldn’t have mattered. These grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, and kiddos just really love being with each other. It was a fun filled, special week for them to all be together in one place. And it was a fun-filled, special portrait session for me to be able to document the pure and great love felt between each one of them.
